The need
Integrators running many projects at once need to see, across their whole portfolio, what work is ready and waiting to be scheduled. Today you can list tasks across all projects and see a calendar of what's already booked, but there's no way to filter down to what actually needs placing: ready, unscheduled work. Everything lands in one undifferentiated list regardless of whether it's assigned or scheduled, so answering ‘what do I need to put on the calendar this week?’ means scanning the whole list or inventing naming/tag workarounds.
Why this matters
Scheduling is where a multi-project shop stays ahead or falls behind. Without a portfolio-level readiness lens, PMs burn time hunting for schedulable work and jobs stall waiting to be booked. A clean ‘what needs scheduling’ view turns the task list and calendar you already have into an actual dispatch tool.
Open questions
- What defines ‘ready to schedule’ — unscheduled + assigned? unscheduled regardless of assignment? product-on-hand included?
- A filter on the existing all-projects task list, a new view, or a calendar-side ‘unscheduled’ tray you drag from?
- How it interacts with the per-project ready-to-schedule work already planned.
- What grouping helps at portfolio scale — by project, resource, date, readiness?
Possible directions
Exploratory, not commitments.
- A ‘needs scheduling / unscheduled’ filter on the existing cross-project task list.
- A calendar-side backlog tray of ready-but-unscheduled work you drag onto dates.
- Tie-in with product-on-hand readiness and the office/field split so the list is clean field work.
