I don't always have a mouse, or a good place to use a mouse, i need to navigate my visual drawings onsite with ease. right clicking the track pad and moving the canvas view only works when your able to right click directly on the canvas, once zoomed in, if a room is drawn, your right click interacts with that room and not the canvas, and panning around becomes inpossible

This feature significantly improves the visual design experience for users who rely on laptop trackpads instead of external mice, especially in mobile and onsite environments. By enabling consistent and intuitive canvas navigation regardless of cursor position, users can work more efficiently within detailed drawings without interruption. The enhancement reduces friction during navigation, improves productivity when editing zoomed-in layouts, and delivers a more modern, accessible, and user-friendly interaction model for visual design workflows.
Enhance canvas navigation behavior to support seamless trackpad interaction within the visual design workspace.
Modify the right-click and drag interaction so canvas panning functions regardless of whether the cursor is hovering over empty canvas space or design objects such as rooms, shapes, or devices.
Prioritize canvas navigation input during panning actions over object interaction when the user initiates a navigation gesture.
Add support for standard trackpad gestures, including two-finger panning and smooth zoom navigation where supported by the operating system.
Improve event handling between selectable objects and the canvas layer to prevent navigation lockouts while zoomed into drawings.
Maintain current object interaction functionality while introducing more intuitive navigation controls for laptop users.
Users can pan the canvas using the trackpad while hovering over objects or empty canvas space.
Right-click and drag panning works consistently throughout the entire drawing area.
Canvas navigation no longer becomes blocked when zoomed into rooms or other drawn elements.
Object selection and editing behavior continue functioning normally when not actively panning.
Trackpad gestures function smoothly without causing unintended object interactions.
Navigation performance remains responsive while working with large or complex drawings.
Zoom level and viewport movement behave consistently across supported devices and operating systems.
The feature works without requiring an external mouse.
Field technicians working onsite without access to an external mouse.
Designers navigating large or highly detailed drawings on laptops.
Users working in constrained environments where mouse usage is impractical.
Users needing to quickly pan across zoomed-in floor plans or room layouts.
Mobile users relying entirely on laptop trackpads for navigation and editing.
This enhancement focuses on improving usability and navigation efficiency within the visual design environment for laptop and mobile users. The roadmap includes updating canvas interaction logic, improving event prioritization between objects and navigation controls, and introducing more intuitive trackpad gesture support. By removing current navigation limitations while zoomed into drawings, the feature will streamline onsite workflows, reduce user frustration, and create a more responsive and modern design experience across supported devices.
