Higher Resolution PNG exports.

High-Resolution WYSIWYG PNG Export System

Feature Idea

Improve PNG export quality so exported plan views match the on-screen experience with high-resolution rendering, accurate text and icon fidelity, and professional-grade output suitable for installation, presentation, and documentation workflows.

Expanded Feature Description

Overview

The current PNG export functionality produces images that appear:

  • Lower resolution than the live Plan View

  • Blurry or pixelated when zoomed

  • Inconsistent with on-screen rendering

  • Less readable than simple OS screenshots

Users report that:

Using the Windows Snipping Tool produces a clearer and more accurate representation than the built-in export function.

This creates a major usability and trust issue because:

  • Exported drawings are often client-facing deliverables

  • Installers rely on printed/exported plans

  • Engineers expect visual fidelity

  • The exported result should never look worse than the live application view

The core problem is that the export pipeline does not faithfully reproduce:

  • Resolution

  • Text rendering

  • Icon styling

  • Scaling

  • Visual hierarchy

  • Anti-aliasing

  • Layer appearance

This feature introduces:

A professional-grade WYSIWYG (“What You See Is What You Get”) export engine for Plan Views and diagrams.

ensuring exported PNGs accurately reflect the live design workspace.

Thanks for flagging this—what you’re seeing makes sense, and you’re not doing anything wrong.

Right now, PNG exports can come out at a lower resolution than what you see on screen, and they don’t always perfectly match how text and icons are rendered in the plan view. The Snipping Tool looks better because it captures exactly what’s displayed on your screen (including zoom and scaling), whereas the export is generated differently.

As a temporary workaround, using the Snipping Tool or exporting while zoomed in can help improve clarity.

We’re currently reviewing this behavior with our team to improve export quality and better match what you see on screen. I’ll keep you posted as soon as we have an update.
