Track Hardware Within Project Without Adding To Inventory Ledger

This feature would primarily be useful for tracking highly customized product. For example Lutron products. Lutron keypads & shades come in all different colors, sizes, finishes, etc, and so it's unintuitive to add the product to inventory and the catalogue, as most of the time, it's a customized item which won't ever be used again on another project.

The way I would imagine something like this being implemented is in the quoting stage, to be able to create something like a "Custom Product" and "Custom Product Package" of sorts. They would behave similarly to standard products and packages on the quote, but they would stay out of the product catalog.

Once the quote wins, and is turned into a project, it would allow you to go through the standard accounting processes when ordered (PO) and installed, but it would never enter the general inventory ledger, it would stay tracked solely within it's relevant project.

The benefit of this is keeping clutter out of inventory so that it can be efficiently maintained and counted, allowing products that can actually be used again if there's extras, such as speakers and amps, to be tracked accurately, without garbage in-between. Same for the catalog, if I name a keypad package "Floor 2 Master Bedroom 3 Gang Keypad", it's not something I need going into the product catalog as a package.

I hope how I present this shows why the feature would be beneficial, thanks.

Agree, basically give us a Sundry item, but that allows for multiple different instances of it.
Needs to be not linked to any of the others, so you can have different sundry items in the one project for different things
