ADP Marketplace integration for payroll — push time entries from D-Tools directly to ADP

The ask

A native integration between D-Tools Cloud and ADP (WorkForce Now / Total Source) that lets customers push approved time entries directly to ADP for payroll processing, instead of exporting CSV and uploading manually.

The problem this solves

Many D-Tools customers run payroll through ADP. Today, getting time data from D-Tools into ADP requires:

  • Exporting time entries to CSV
  • Reformatting the CSV to ADP's expected column structure
  • Uploading manually into ADP

That's manual, error-prone, and creates a parallel data-entry burden every payroll cycle. For shops where Timekeeping is the system of record for billable hours, the CSV bridge is a meaningful weekly tax.

A direct integration via the ADP marketplace would let payroll data flow automatically, with proper handling of pay components like regular hours, OT, lunch deductions, weekend rates, and holiday rates.

Use cases

  • Payroll administrator runs the standard payroll cycle in ADP. D-Tools-tracked hours are already in ADP, no upload step.
  • Project manager sees billable hours flow into D-Tools cost reports while the same hours flow to ADP for payroll — no double entry.
  • Multi-rate workforce (different bill rates per resource and labor type) push to ADP correctly without manual rate lookup.

Considerations

  • ADP has multiple payroll platforms — RUN, WorkForce Now, Total Source. WorkForce Now is the engine behind Total Source, so the marketplace integration likely targets WorkForce Now first.
  • D-Tools must be able to produce payroll-ready data first: accurate OT calculation, holiday/weekend pay scales, accurate lunch deductions. Those depend on broader timekeeping work already on the roadmap.
  • ADP marketplace listing has lead time — applying for marketplace approval is a separate workstream from the integration build itself.

Related

A separate idea exists for an internal payroll-review workflow (DTC-I-619). That's about reviewing and approving timesheets internally before payroll. This idea is about the outbound integration once timesheets are approved — they're complementary, not duplicate.

This will be major! We really need this integration. So many man hours are going into this currently, just wasted doing manual entry from one platform to the other... Anyone with ADP needs to vote for this!!!
