Hello and thanks @Guest for submitting this idea.
Selling straight off the shelf is a real gap. We'd rather fix it properly than add "Sale" to the adjustment reasons.
An inventory adjustment tells your books the stock was lost or used up, so a sale recorded that way shows up as shrinkage expense with no revenue and no sales tax recorded. You'd still owe the tax, and nothing in D-Tools or your accounting would show it. It would also throw off your inventory and profit reporting. Not ideal.
We're looking at a quicker way to sell stock outside of a quote, so your inventory, revenue and accounting stay in agreement. A few questions to help us get it right:
Roughly how often do you sell items this way (per week or month)?
Who's usually buying: walk-in customers, an existing client adding something small, another integrator, or someone else?
How do you get paid for these: an invoice, a card payment on the spot, or added to a client's next bill?
Do you need tax and a customer record on these sales, or just the stock and the money?
Thanks again.
