Item Summary — total quantity per part across a project

Today there is no single place in a project to see the total quantity of a specific part across the entire project. When the same product is placed in multiple rooms, systems, or phases, it shows up as a separate line for each placement — so answering “how many of this part are in this project?” means manually adding up lines, or exporting to CSV and building a pivot table in a spreadsheet.

What we’d like

An Item Summary view that rolls a project up to one row per part (manufacturer / model / part number) with the total quantity summed across every location, system, and phase.

  • One line per unique part, with a summed quantity for the whole project
  • Search and filter to a specific part, manufacturer, or category
  • Group / expand / collapse (for example by location or system) with quantity subtotals
  • Drill from a summarized part into the individual lines that make it up
  • A calculated total-quantity column, so the number is done for you rather than added by hand

Why it matters

Estimators, purchasers, and installers regularly need a quick, accurate count of how many of a given part a project contains — for ordering, staging, and verifying scope. Doing this by hand or in a spreadsheet is slow and easy to get wrong.

If this would help your workflow, please vote and add a comment describing how you’d use it.
